About Cornerstone Construction & Builders
We are a fully licensed and insured builder based in Richland, Michigan. Our primary business is building new residential homes, however we do projects, remodels, and commercial building as well.
Our Design Process (1-6 months)
Here's a birds eye view:
- Initial meeting: If you are interested in building a home let's meet! We can have a cup of coffee and see if it's a good fit.
- Design Process: Once you are commitied to build, we have a small deposit credited toward the cost of your home to begin our design process. Here all the details of your new home are dialed into a final contract price. From creating the plan to the cabinet hardware, every detail is covered.
- Contract to Build: Through the design process, we create the contract to build your new home. This is the turnkey price to complete your project. After contracts and financing are complete your project is placed on our foundation schedule.
Our Building Process (6-12 months)
Here's a birds eye view:
- Permitting (1-5 weeks): The first part of building your home is boring and you don't see any work being done on site. Luckily, we are used to working with lots of agencies, and know the key to success-followup, followup, followup.
- Excavation and Foundations (3-6 weeks): A small error in the foundation can lead to major compromises throughout the rest of your build. Because we do our own foundations we make sure they are flawless.
- Framing and dry-in (4-8 weeks): Now things are cooking. At this stage everyday new big changes are happening.
- Rough-in (4-8 weeks): During the rough-in phase, all the guts of your home are installed. It's a tightly sequenced series of many different parties and inspections, but often seems uneventful to the homeowner.
- Insulation to primer (4-8 weeks): At this point the guts are covered and any changes tend to increase in cost. But, it's starting to feel like a house.
- Interior Finish (8-16 weeks): We have built a cake and now it is time for the frosting. All the details of your home start coming to life, and decisions we made ages ago now come to fruition.
- Exterior Finish: Exterior finish happens all throughout the build
